I think that many women have a few extra pounds to get rid of after they have their childbirth. During my pregnancy I went from 158 pounds to 210 pounds! Can you imagine 52 pounds, that's a lot? The main reason for that big weight gain was that I changed my eating habits. In the middle of the night I could go out in kitchen with only one mission - FOOD. I could eat sandwiches, ice-cream, peanut-butter (with spoon) and anything else you can imagine. But my favourite was - all sweet things - candy, cheesecakes, ice-ream, etc.
Hmmm...wonder why I looked like a whale in the end of the pregnancy.
It is now 2 years since my daughter was born and I and my husband are planning to become pregnant again. This time I have read a lot of "eating well" and "pregnancy diets" and stuff like that. I am much more prepared.
This time I will follow a few guidelines (I don't think it is impossible)
* I will write everything down that I eat, as I eat it. I will have a notebook beside me all of the time. Write everything down. I think an eating diary makes me notice if I change my eating habits.
* I will be specific in my notes. If I eat a burger, I don't just write "burger". I will specific if there is mayonnaise, cheese on the burger or if I get French fries beside.
* Last of all, and maybe the hardest. I will try to be honest. My diary is for my eyes only.
I think this will help me to stay in shape this time. The time after my first childbirth was I tough period. Trying to lose weight and taking care of my daughter was a full time occupation. I found it very hard to lose weight and after trying different diets I finally found a method that really helped me. It was a slim mom method that saved me from being a Barbapapa the rest of my life.
